New MCP servers, one agent story, one config to paste. ~3 min.
๐ฅ Trending & new MCPs
1. SolidCraft โ open-source parametric 3D CAD in pure Rust, with a built-in MCP server (solidcraft-cli mcp) so agents can model, measure and inspect parts headless.
Why it matters: the #1 MCP launch on Hacker News in the last 48h (133 points). CAD is a new frontier for agent tooling. Claude Code: claude mcp add solidcraft -- solidcraft-cli mcp ยท โญ 1,847
2. moodle-mcp โ lets agents use a real Moodle LMS: courses, assignments, forums, grades, files as markdown. Created Oct 12. Why it matters: brand new, and the README says it was tested live against Moodle 3.7 โ 5.x. Useful for students, TAs and edtech builders. ยท โญ 11
3. codebase-memory-mcp โ a local MCP server that indexes your repo into a persistent code knowledge graph (162 languages, single static binary). Why it matters: the project reports ~120ร fewer tokens than reading files one by one in its five-query comparison. If your Claude Code bill hurts, try this. ยท โญ 46,526
4. chrome-devtools-mcp โ the official Chrome DevTools server for coding agents. Why it matters: your agent can open the page, read the console and check the network tab, so it can confirm its own frontend fix. Config below ๐ ยท โญ 53,481
๐๏ธ Agent news
AI coding agents generate more code, but not more software (Ars Technica) A Harvard study of Jellyfish data covering 700+ software firms found that adopting AI coding agents brought +30% lines of code, +20% commits and +23% PRs. It found no significant change in Jira issue or epic resolution. Review time grew 49%, and the share of PRs needing changes nearly doubled. Takeaway: the bottleneck is now review, so put your time into tests and review tooling. (HN discussion)
๐ Copy-paste config: Chrome DevTools MCP
Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Cursor) or claude_desktop_config.json (Claude Desktop):
{
"mcpServers": {
"chrome-devtools": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "chrome-devtools-mcp@latest"]
}
}
}
Only need basic browsing? The README's slim mode uses "args": ["-y", "chrome-devtools-mcp@latest", "--slim", "--headless"]. Source: official README.
